POPS CONCERT TONIGHT, FEB. 13: MUSIC DPT. FUNDRAISER TO SUPPORT BAND EVALUATION TRIP
The Annual High School Pops Concert will take place in the auditorium at 7 p.m., today, Monday, February 13. The admission/donation for the Pops Concert is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for students. Children 4-years-old and younger and senior citizens enter free. Proceeds will be utilized for the band trip this coming spring.
Jazz Lab I, under the direction of Mr. Matthew Christy, will perform classic pop tunes such as “Billie Jean,” written and composed by the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. More great music by Mr. Christy’s Symphonic Band I will include “The Avengers,” written and composed by Alan Silvestri. This piece was used in “The Avengers” movies, and in parts of “Iron Man” and “Captain America.”
The Symphonic Band II, under the direction of Mr. Thomas Stickney, will perform a great medley of tunes made famous by Michael Jackson, including “I Want you Back,” “Thriller” and “Rock With You.” They will also perform the tune “Mambo” from “West Side Story." Our Jazz Lab II, also under the direction of Mr. Stickney, will perform many a crowd-pleaser including “Respect,” made famous by Aretha Franklin.
The Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Joseph Horner, will feature great popular hits as well. The Concert Band will play "Beauty and the Beast.” Our Jazz Ensemble will perform the hit song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from the movie “Toy Story.” Our Wind Ensemble will perform the tune “Pirates of The Caribbean.”
