MINISINK VALLEY VOTERS APPROVE 2018-2019 BUDGET


On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, Minisink Valley Central School District voters approved the 2018-19 school budget, with 653 casting votes in favor of the $99.9 million spending plan and 267 opposed. Voters also approved the bus purchase proposition by a vote of 626 to 293.

The approved budget calls for a spending increase of 1.39 percent and a 1.50 percent tax levy increase. It adds and reinstates new programs and positions and maintains all current programs and services designed to meet student needs and strengthen student support.

BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION RESULTS

There were four candidates for three BOE seats on this year’s ballot for 3-year-terms commencing July 1 of this year and going through June 30, 2021. Vote totals were as follows: 

  • Christopher Briecke – 551
  • Kathlee DeRose – 600
  • Linda Horan – 496
  • Catherine Prezioso - 541
