FIRST PHASE OF $36.9M CAPITAL PROJECT TO BEGIN JUNE 25 AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The first phase of the $36.9 million capital project approved by voters in February 2017 will commence on June 25 with the removal of original vinyl asbestos tile from 24 classrooms at Minisink Valley Elementary School.

Over the summer, the old vinyl asbestos tile and floor adhesive will be removed and replaced with new vinyl (non-asbestos) tile. As required by law prior to the start of any work, the district will be posting an asbestos notification letter at each school entrance on Friday, June 15, to provide a 10-day notification and inform employees and visitors.

Contractors will begin work on Monday, June 25, and complete the project on or before Friday, August 31. Air monitoring will be conducted throughout the project to ensure that air quality samples meet or exceed industry standards, as required by law.

The district is dedicated to improving the quality of our classrooms, offices and common areas while maintaining student, staff and community safety at all times.
