SCHOOL COMMUNITY'S DONATIONS WILL CREATE 240 FULL BAGS OF FOOD FOR 'MINISINK CARES' ORGANIZATION

The Minisink Valley school community’s kindness and generosity will again be shown in the forthcoming distribution of 240 full bags of food to the 2018 Minisink Cares Holiday Food Drive on Dec. 8.

Minisink Cares is a community organization which provides food and other necessities to families within the immediate community who need a helping hand.

About 80 families will be the beneficiaries of the donations of Minisink Valley students and their families.

Florence D’Angelo’s Minisink Intermediate School fifth-grade class coordinated the drive, taking the food donated items in November from Otisville Elementary, the high school, middle school, intermediate school, school clubs and Minisink Valley Elementary to make the bags. The class collected, tallied, sorted, checked and bagged all the items.

Some of the students from her class and Mike Sirico’s fifth-grade will be on hand during the distribution and carry the bags to recipients’ cars.

Mrs. D’Angelo said contests were conducted to see how much food can be collected to distribute to those 80 families. A popcorn/craft party will be hosted by her students for the winners of each grade level in the elementary building
