A QUARTER SAVED IS 25 CENTS EARNED....OTISVILLE FOURTH-GRADERS LEARN THE VALUE OF SAVING MONEY FROM ORANGE BANK & TRUST CO.

Otisville Elementary  fourth-graders received practical knowledge and advice about not just U.S. currency, but financial planning and management  from Cynthia Fusillo and Laura WongSing of Orange Bank &Trust Co. on May 10  as part of the school’s annual banking program.

The bank’s interest in meeting with the fourth-graders represents the many ongoing, collaborative efforts  between community/business groups and the district.

Students learned the difference between needs and wants and discuss money-saving strategies for things like college, paying bills, and buying a car or a house.

Saving money is one of the most important aspects of building wealth and having a secure financial foundation. For many children, a piggy bank is a great way of learning the  importance of saving in an easy way.

And to start them off right, the bankers presented each student with a piggy bank --- and a quarter to start kickoff their newfound knowledge about the importance of savings.
