Students Raises Money for the Animal Shelter


One thoughtful act of caring by a Minisink Valley Middle School student spurred his classmates and science teachers into persons of action.  Minisink Valley Middle School student Joseph Voelpel felt compelled to help in any way, after visiting the humane society of Port Jervis.  Following his visit to the shelter, he discussed his experience with Science Teacher Chuck Hoffman and asked if we could do a fund raiser for the shelter.  After much thought and discussion the entire science department 6th-8th science teachers (Mrs. Eye, Mr. Hamilton, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Coffey, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Ringanese, Mrs. Sicina, Mrs. Farley, Mrs. Zometsky and Mr. Hoffman) collected food items and supplies for the shelter.  In total the Middle school collected over 400 items to be donated.  Mrs. Eyes’ class collecting the greatest number of items 168 in all, winning science teachers student were rewarded with ice-cream vouchers.
