What better way for Otisville Elementary third, fourth and fifth-graders to end the week, tie in their school’s year-long theme and get a special performance of the high school’s forthcoming play--- than to have a visit by some very awesome superheroes?

This year, Otisville’s theme for the school year is “Otisville students are superheroes." When school officials learned about the Minisink Valley High School Drama Club's upcoming play, "Superheroes: With Great Power Comes Ordinary Responsibility,” the cast was invited to come to Otisville to give a special, preview performance for students.

Members of the cast even did a “meet and greet” with students prior to the start of the show.

Throughout the year, staff and students engage in different activities surrounding the theme.  So far, the school has held a superhero assembly for all students introducing the theme, and a “Wear Your Superhero T-shirt” Day.

Principal Vincent Biele and Assistant Principal Julia Downey have visited all Kindergarten and first-grade classes to read the book, "Character Kids Save the Day," which addresses the “superpowers” of kindness, honesty, bravery and more.
