OBSTACLE COURSE TEACHES ABSTRACT CONCEPTS TO K-1 STUDENTS

This week K-1 students at Otisville got a full workout moving every which way through a maze of obstacles set up in the school’s gym.

Physical education teachers, Stephanie Giufre and Thomas Uhrig, used obstacle courses to help students work on abstract skills and concepts such as balance, over-under, up-down, on-off, and through-around.

“Sometimes with intangible concepts the best way to learn is by putting them into practice—and having fun in the process,” Mrs. Giufre said.

They could have practiced all day!

COMING UP: Physical Education and Sports Spirit Week, May 6-10

Students are encouraged to join the fun and express themselves around each day’s theme, as follows:

Monday: Favorite Sports Team • Tuesday: Sneakers Day • Wednesday: Athletic Wear • Thursday: Youth Team Day • Friday: School Spirit Day
