ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S 'I HAVE A DREAM QUILT' ALIGNS ITSELF WITH 'NO NAME-CALLING WEEK' TENETS

As NO NAME-CALLING WEEK continues nationwide, here’s yet another example of Minisink Valley’s yearlong kindness initiatives in action!

Presenting Minisink Elementary School's Sally Mankoo’s second-grade class’ “I Have Dream” quilt, created last week as part of her class’ activities tied to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday. It’s now proudly hanging outside of her classroom.

Look closely and you can read the students’ wishes, including some of these noted below. (And, REMEMBER, part of the lesson includes opportunities for students to perfect writing and spelling skills!

I have a dream:
“Pepol whant get judged by ther skin color.”
“That all people will be kind for the rest of there lifes”
“That everybody would not get bullied.
“That evryone will be treted the same.”
