Minisink Valley School community:
The Minisink Valley School District is closely monitoring New York State’s ongoing review of Regents examinations and graduation requirements. We’re reviewing guidance and updates from the New York State Education Department (NYSED), including implementation timelines and available resources, to understand the proposed changes, their implications for students and families and the steps the district may need to take as the state’s plans evolve.
We recognize the state’s efforts to examine how graduation requirements and measures of student achievement can reflect a changing educational landscape while preparing students with the knowledge and skills they need for future success.
At the same time, we believe meaningful assessments remain an important part of education. They help educators measure student progress, identify areas where additional support may be needed and evaluate how well students are developing the knowledge and skills outlined in state learning standards.
Although the role of Regents examinations may evolve, our commitment to academic rigor, high expectations and meaningful measures of student learning remains unchanged. We will continue to follow state guidance, evaluate new information as it becomes available and thoughtfully prepare for any changes that affect our instructional programs, assessment practices or students’ graduation pathways.
We also recognize that families may have questions about what these developments mean for their children, but please know we’re committed to sharing relevant updates as requirements and implementation plans become clearer.
Our priority remains providing students with a strong educational foundation and ensuring they are prepared for success far beyond graduation. As this work progresses, Minisink Valley will continue to stay informed, plan responsibly and keep our school community informed while maintaining our focus on academic excellence, meaningful assessment and student readiness for the future.
