Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, who won the Section IX championship after beating Warwick in an 11-8 matchup on May 22!
“The girls came out hot in the first quarter and led by six before Warwick mounted a four goal rally while Minisink was down a player, said Varsity Coach Chris Burger. ” We added two unanswered goals in the second quarter goals to take a 8-4 lead into the half. Play for both teams was slowed by the heat.”
He added: “The third quarter Warwick scored three goals, two were when Minisink was short handed. The third was at the buzzer to end the third quarter. Minisink added one early in the quarter to head into the fourth with a 9-7 lead. We scored two more in the fourth and only allowed Warwick to score their final goal with 22 seconds on the clock.”
