Minisink Valley school community:
As noted in our recent note to you on the extreme heat in our area, we have spent the day monitoring the temperatures in our buildings. We have determined that despite use of high powered fans to keep air flow going at all times, temperatures remain at an uncomfortable level.
Due to the continued forecasts for extreme heat, the middle school and elementary schools will dismiss early on Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21.
Dismissal times are:
Middle School: 11:30 a.m.
Elementary schools: 12:40 p.m.
Out-of- district students will be picked up at 11:30 a.m.
Please plan for your child’s early arrival home based on these departure times.
Note: all High School Regent exams will follow their normal schedules. Plans are already in place to have students take their exams in air-conditioned areas.
Thank you for your flexibility as we navigate this unusual situation. This decision was made with the temperatures in our school buildings in mind and how these temperatures may impact students.
Please continue to send your children to school dressed appropriately for the weather and consider sending them with a refillable water bottle for hydration. We look forward to spending these remaining days of school with your children.
