Work has already begun on the development of the proposed 2024-25 school budget.
Based on this work, four public meetings are scheduled over the next eight weeks where different portions of the proposed budget will be presented to the Board of Education.
These four public meetings, part of the Board’s Finance Committee meetings, have always taken place annually at this time of the year and precede the Board’s regular meetings. This year, the proposed budget presentations will take place during the Board’s Finance Committee meetings to be held Feb. 1, Feb. 15, March 7 and March 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Middle School Auditorium.
This budget season, these four Finance Committee meetings will be videotaped and archived on the district’s website shortly after those meetings take place, allowing those who can’t attend these meetings to see the detail of what was discussed.
“Our top financial commitment remains to be completely respectful and prudent of the use of taxpayer dollars as we craft this proposed budget,” said Board of Education President Joseph Flaherty.
Superintendent Brian Monahan stressed these meetings are among the most important of the school year.
“We encourage everyone to attend them in person and learn about the detailed, meticulous work that goes into preparing our annual school budget,” he added. “But if that’s not possible, we hope our community will view these meetings so they have a solid understanding of our comprehensive work.”
The links to these meetings and budget development documents will be available on this website on the forthcoming 2024-25 budget development page.
