Congratulations to the two Varsity Track & Field relay teams and three individuals who are advancing to the NYSPHSAA Indoor Track & Field State Championships on March 2 at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex in Staten Island
Double-qualifier Kessler Hirsch advances as an individual in the 55-meter dash.
The boys’ team brought home a pair of automatic individual qualifications, with Gavin Rossi advancing in the 1,600-meter run, where his mark of 4:17.02 from the Millrose Games Trials will be among the top seeds in the event.
Also advancing as an individual will be pole vaulter Logan Schupner, who will be a podium contender having cleared 14′ 7.25″.
Hirsh also anchored the 4×400 meter relay team of Ferrah Hill, Kaleigh Murphy and Zoey Terpak, which collectively held off Cornwall in a finale to the girls’ events in 4:00.26.
Also qualifying for states is the 4×400 meter relay team of Robert LaBarbera, Jordan Mabra, Samuel Anderson and John Mattera, who battled to an at-large berth by shattering the program record with a runner-up showing of 3:22.61.
Zouhair Elsibai is the alternate for the boys 4×400 relay; and Lyla LaBarbera and Chloe Beck are the alternates for girls 4×400 relay.
