Two High School juniors were among the 34 students honored at Orange-Ulster BOCES’ 2024 Humanities Honoree Awards Ceremony and Breakfast at the Country Club at the Otterkill Country Club on March 19.
Daisy Finke and Audrey Guido were honored for distinguishing themselves in the arts and humanities. This event celebrated seniors and juniors who were nominated by their high schools and BOCES who have stood out among their peers by showing an impressive dedication, skill, and commitment to the arts and humanities. The gathering celebrated their outstanding accomplishments in the fine arts, performing arts and the humanities fields.
Daisy is a well-rounded artist with strengths in painting, drawing and sculpture. who has developed her own personal style that she brings into her work. She demonstrates extreme technical skill and artistic ability, and plans to attend art college.
Audrey’s musical talents include playing the euphonium in the High School’s WInd Ensemble and trombone in its Jazz Ensemble. She participates in a wide variety of organizations and volunteers her time to serve others. Audrey has exceptional grades and has been the school’s Hugh O”Brian Youth Leadership Foundation (HOBY) representative. She plans to major in nursing in college.
Louis Peterson, a graphic designer and production manager for the OU BOCES Communications Department, was the keynote speaker. Mr. Peterson, a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York, is also a freelance illustrator and independent comic book creator. His art can be seen around Orange County at schools, store fronts, restaurants and locally produced product packaging.
