Thirty-seven students were inducted as the newest members of Minisink Valley High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society during the chapter’s 64th annual induction ceremony, held Oct. 18.
NHS is a national organization for high school students that seeks to honor students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception.
“The National Honor Society Induction is the most exciting time of the year for our students,” said NHS Advisor Dolores Lombardo, who noted they’re important role models in the school. “It marks the beginning of the journey that these new members will take. They worked so hard and showed tremendous dedication and commitment to their community and causes. That hard work has earned them a place in our chapter and in our chapter’s history.”

It’s estimated that more than one million students participate in NHS activities. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada and worldwide. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
