Extreme heat art work

Minisink Valley parents/guardians:

Like you, we’re monitoring the weather forecast for extreme heat for the next few days.

Our Buildings & Grounds team continues to work around the clock to keep our buildings as cool as possible. Already, plans are being implemented to rotate classes into areas of our buildings where there are air conditioning options. We’re also using high powered fans to keep air flow going at all times.

Please be sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather and while cold water is always available, pack extra water for your child in the coming days.

A special note for the High School and Middle School: Plans are already being implemented to relocate students into air-conditioned areas of these buildings for their Regents Exams. There’s no change to the schedules in these buildings.

However, this is a good time to review your plans for your elementary school child in the event of an early dismissal for the later part of this week.  You need to be sure your child fully understands these plans as well. If we need to dismiss school early due to extreme heat weather issues, this information would be communicated via our website, Facebook page, app notification and recorded calls to your home.  We always plan to give you as much advance notice as possible.

Our continued practice is to closely monitor several reputable weather forecasting outlets regarding forecast updates.  We also consult with and rely on the good, sound professional judgment of our Buildings & Grounds and Administrative teams regarding building usage. The well-being and safety of our students and staff remain our first priority.

Thank you for your attention to this important information. We look forward to spending these remaining days of school with your children.
