Minisink Valley was doubly represented at the recent Orange-Ulster BOCES Outstanding Student Honoree Luncheon, held at the Wallkill Country Club.
Valedictorian Ethan Hidalgo and salutatorian Olivia Loeven were among the honorees representing 20 school districts. This year, they were joined by senior Sophia Solimando, who is the valedictorian for O-U BOCES’ Career & Technical Center; and senior Emma Pollack, who is the O-U BOCES’ CTE salutatorian.
“We are beyond proud to say we have two valedictorians and two salutatorians in our Class of 2024,” said Superintendent Brian Monahan. “These four have worked so hard to achieve these amazing academic achievements and we know they will do well in all their future endeavors.”
Ethan will attend Yale University and major in computer engineering. Olivia will attend SUNY Orange and will pursue a degree in liberal arts, mathematics and natural sciences.
Sophia will attend Pennsylvania College of Technology and will major in engineering design technology. Emma will attend the University of New Haven and will be majoring in medical laboratory sciences.
Each year Orange-Ulster BOCES honors the outstanding students from the region’s public and private high schools who have demonstrated excellence in academic achievement throughout high school.
Guest speaker was Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus, who has served in this role since 2014.
The gathering was attended by school officials, Board of Education members, parents and family members.
