Megan Sontag been named an assistant principal at the high school beginning in the 2024-25 school year.
Mrs. Sontag served as interim high school assistant principal since last February prior to her appointment as assistant principal earlier this summer.
Mrs. Sontag joined Minisink Valley in 2016 as a physical education teacher after holding similar positions in Rockland County and New York City for the prior nine years. At Minisink, she also served as head coach for the girls varsity swim team; assistant and head coach for the winter varsity track team; and aquatics director.
Additionally, Mrs. Sontag served as summer school principal for two summers and as the physical education and health department's chair.
“I hope to continue to provide and help facilitate an environment where students feel valued and heard,” she said. “My goal is to be a supportive and approachable leader that students see as someone who is committed to their success and well-being. I look forward to utilizing my diverse educational background along with my knowledge of the school district as I step into this new role. In doing so, I hope to contribute in promoting a positive school culture, provide support that will help develop our students, faculty and staff, and overall continue to build and improve our educational community.”
Mrs. Sontag earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from the City University of New York at Lehman; her master’s degree in health education from Montclair State University; and her bachelor’s degree in physical education from SUNY Cortland.
